ONLINE SAFETY

We all know that the internet is a vital resource for learning and education. But it can also be a potentially dangerous place, with violent, sexually explicit or disturbing material, online predators and cyber-bullies.

But don’t worry—there are simple steps you can take, other than implementing parental controls, to keep your kids safe without depriving them from important online access.

Firstly, speak to your children about staying safe online. Let them know they can come to you if they are in trouble. making sure the webcam is set to off by default or taping over it is also a good idea. Another simple yet effective precaution is to make sure no information is included on pictures that you may put online. Also, teaching your kids to stick to principles of not posting any pictures that could cause embarrassment of distress will also help to keep them safe online.
