Winter Warmth

It’s that time of year; the weather is cold and you need to make sure you child is prepared for the winter months. But it can be difficult to get it just right.

Babies are slightly different, but in older children, the first thing to consider is providing your child with a base layer to insulate. Tights and long johns can ensure that your child’s body keeps dry at all times.

Many parents are tempted to choose the heaviest coat they can find to dress their kids. However, this isn’t necessarily the best way. Thin layers instead of big restricting coats will allow your child to shed off lightly if they get too hot, which means they won’t ever be choosing between overheating and freezing.

Covering extremities is also important so remember, exposed area likes the head, ears, hands and feet are the most prone to cold exposure. Send your child outside with a hat, gloves and thick socks to ensure all the bases are covered.
